Dr. Lisa Perryman’s Cancer Detection Rate

Dr. Perryman takes great pride in her adenoma detection rate. Adenoma detection rate, or ADR, is considered a quality indicator, or a “report card” for a colonoscopy, as it measures the detection of precancerous polyps in colonoscopy patients.

Dr. Perryman’s ADR is 27% higher than the national benchmark, and is increasing every year. Colorectal surgeons, including Dr. Perryman, strive for higher percentages in their ADR, as it directly correlates with the effectiveness of the colonoscopies that they offer.

The chart shows how Dr. Perryman’s ADR compares to the national benchmark for adenoma detection rate.

Recognition and Honors

Dr. Perryman is recognized as a top performing physician and colorectal surgeon in both quality patient care and cost containment. UnitedHealthcare has again selected Dr. Perryman as a Premium Program Tier 1 Physician. What this means to patients is she meets cost-efficiency standards, as well as engages them in the health care decision-making process. Patients who select Tier 1 doctors can realize lower costs.

Dr. Perryman’s practice was awarded Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPi) designation in 2018 for excellence in value-based and patient-centric health care services. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) sponsor TCPi, and less than 16% of practices participate nationally. Today fewer than 50 have completed TCPi in Colorado. 9NEWS/NBC selected Dr. Perryman to launch its March Colon Cancer Awareness efforts. It meant the return of Buddy Check 9. Dr. Perryman shared colorectal cancer risk factors, symptoms, the importance of early detection, and her thoughts on why more people do not get screened for this highly preventable disease. Her public service announcement (PSA) was distributed throughout Colorado, as well as to 46 major markets nationwide.

Dr. Perryman believes it is important to help guide the next generation of healthcare providers. She speaks to physician residents on a variety of colorectal conditions and treatments. Her medical assistants are undergraduate and graduate students seeking careers in healthcare—as nurses, physician assistants, and doctors. The experience of working side-by-side with her is invaluable.
