March 2, 2018 – More than 200 people dressed in blue attended the 1st annual event held downtown Denver at the magnificent McNichols Civic Center Building. Buildings, including the Colorado State Capitol Building, were lit blue to raise awareness of colon cancer. Colon cancer is the #2 cancer killer, and 1:20 will be diagnosed with it. The #1 Symptom = No Symptoms.
With generous support we were able to raise $132,000. This incredible success is only possible because of big-hearted people in Colorado and beyond.
The inaugural Blue Hope Bash Denver is a signature event of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. It unites both individuals and corporations that are passionate about supporting a mission to end colorectal cancer within our lifetime.

9NEWS/NBC selected Colorado Colon & Rectal Specialists’ Dr. Lisa A. Perryman, FACS, FASCRS, to launch Colon Cancer Awareness Month in March 2017. It marked the return of the popular 9NEWS Buddy Check9, which highlights different types of cancer each month. March is colorectal cancer awareness month, and like breast cancer has its own special color—BLUE.
Dr. Perryman appeared on the Emmy Award-winning show Colorado & Company with 9NEWS host, Denise Plante. Colon Cancer Alliance, based in Washington, D.C., sponsored the segment below.
